Costumes

Kirra and I had a great time being matching witches! She wasn't sure about my purple hair, though I suppose she must get used to a lifetime of her mom embarrassing her!
Kade in his 'inspection' pose (this is what he looks like right before he pounces on a bug)!

Does the girl know how to pose or what?

Now I do have to admit...we are adorable!

Where did she come from?

Our skeleton is always on the run so pictures of his face are few and far between!

Trick-or-Treat

The long-awaited night has come and gone! I am pretty sure every time we go to somebody's door Kade will be expecting his hands to be filled with treats...it didn't take him long to catch onto what happened at each house. Kirra would say ever so sweetly, "Trick-or-Treat" and Kade would yell, squirm, and squeal until he got some loot in his hands. It wasn't enough to have the treats put in his bag, he wanted to have some in each hand and then he would give a quick little grin and try to run in their house.

We started out the evening with a "Halloween Boo-fet" at the Steel's. Now if you don't know what a "Boo-fet" may be I'll let you in on the secret. Kris is amazing and that's the best place to start. The menu consists of hot dog mummies, spaghetti brains, pumpkin quesadillas, chocolate donut spiders, purple creepy punch, chips and salsa blood, deviled egg eyes, finger pretzels, and Halloween oreos. After filling ourselves at the "Boo-fet" we hit a some special houses and then came back to our neighborhood to trick-or-treat. After getting lots of loot we headed back to the Steel's where Kade enjoyed helping Kendra 'un-sort' her Halloween candy piles. He seriously sees organization as a destruction challenge. He has earned the name "Search and Destroy" around our house!

Getting ready to dig the doorbell!
I think he was saying, "Meow"

Oh, couldn't you just squish those cheeks?
Kade thought he would be helpful to Kendra and eat her candy.

Preschool Halloween Party

Kirra had a great time at her preschool (or 'school' as I get corrected every time I call it preschool) Halloween party. Before the party began they made little pumpkin bags to use for their loot. Kirra loved the bags because they used sparkling glitter for the pumpkin's face. When it was time for the party the kids got to come in and eat pumpkin shaped sandwiches, Jell-O jigglers, fruit, veggies, and chicken nuggets. It was a feast! After lunch they played Pin-the-Nose-on-the-Pumpkin, Ghost Bowling, Pumpkin Toss, and Candy Corn drop. The favorite of the day was musical chairs -- the kids had a blast! I don't think they really have any idea that we were supposed to be taking a chair out each time (which we didn't do) -- they just enjoyed racing for a chair! I'm pretty sure they could have played for another 15 minutes, but it was time for the costume parade so off in a line they went to show off their adorable costumes. Miss Rita, the director of Kirra's preschool, asked if I would like to be in the parade (I had my lovely purple haired witch costume on) but I told her I would rather take pictures -- surprised?

Books in the McEntire House are a BIG Deal!

We LOVE Books!

The shelves are overflowing and as you can see Kade is happiest when they are on the floor! His best reading is done once the floor is covered in books. I often find him sitting in a pile looking at books and making animal noises. Kirra is finding out that Kade will sit and look at a book with her for more than 1.5 seconds these days and is starting to enjoy helping him learn. The problem for Kirra is that she doesn't like all the books all over the floor (she has problems with messes...only if Kade has made them) and she is quick to get them cleaned up!

Halloween Party

Our ward Halloween party was a little interesting this year since our gym is under construction. We had the carnival in classrooms and a trunk-or-treat outside. Kirra and Kade had a great time winning prizes and filling their candy bags. OK -- so that was a description of Kirra's experience, Kade's was more of run as fast as he can through the parking lot, throw packing peanuts all over, keep the ball for the basketball toss, eat as many marshmallows as possible, and run his mom ragged! We don't see much of Scott during our Halloween parties, he is stuck building and running the spook alley -- which I might add is always amazing!

Kade trying to find spiders rings hidden in the pool of packing peanuts (I'm pretty sure he didn't find a ring but he sure made a mess!)
So what do I do with these?
Oh, now I get it! I eat them and ask for more!
The thrill of finding a ball on the ground and getting to put it in the hoop (again & again)!

We got to see Daddy for about three minutes while he was on break from the Spook Alley.

Whoa! Who is that woman with the purple hair?
I think Kade thought the carnival was put together just for him -- more balls!
