Presents

After we got home from Kirra's musical it was time for Kade's presents!
The kids had been in the backyard with Daddy squirting each other with squirt guns so Kade was a little wet - love his long spikey hair!

The bow-and-arrow set from Kirra was a HUGE hit!

Kade showing Keian how to use the fun Thomas set from Grandpa and Grandma McEntire
Strider Bike - no pedals!  It is supposed to teach balance before they have to worry about pedals.
We'll see if it works.  Keian loves it!

Kade has a free kid's meal postcard from Chick-fil-a to celebrate his birthday and
he was so happy to eat there!
Blowing out FOUR candles!
Keian enjoyed the fishy cake - especially the green frosting!

Happy Birthday to a most wonderful boy!

SAFE at Home

I played my last softball game of 2010 tonight - we weren't very impressive. . .until the last two innings.  We scored 2 runs in the first five innings of the game, the other team scored 9 in the first three.   In the top of the sixth we came alive and had some great hits and had also been playing some great defensive (finally).  Now I can't remember if we had two outs when I got up to bat - but I hit a double - or if the second out occurred after I was on base, but I do remember Pat telling me from his third base coaching position that there were two outs.  When a hit was made I ran to third and then headed home.  I could tell there was going to be a play at the plate so I slid into home (I wear pants every game for these exact moments).  The catcher was totally caught off guard that someone actually slid and she turned and tagged me about on my thigh - I got UNDER and was SAFE!  The other team wasn't thrilled with the umpire's call, but he was right.  I was the tie-breaker run, but if I had gotten out we would have left the game tied at the top of the seventh..  We ended up scoring one more run that inning and then holding the other team for a win 11-9.  I do love SOFTBALL!

Fishing Birthday

The ideas for my kid's birthday parties come to me at random times, and most often MONTHS in advance.  I love parties so maybe that's why I think of them so far in advance.  This year I found great little 'fishing party invites when I was shopping for clearance Christmas decorations.
Yes, I picked the them for Kade's June birthday in January -
but hey, I had a lot of time to think of ideas, right?
(I blocked out our address and phone number in the invite - there weren't just random boxes)
Our edible fish aquariums -
The fishing tackle buckets
Hop from hoop to hoop without stepping and and getting stung by the jellyfish (just like on Nemo)!
Fish painting with packing bubbles to make scales and add texture.
Getting ready for fishing race. . .

Kade was NOT happy that the scarf kept getting caught on his hat.  But he had a great time one he got everything on.
Then we used poppers to throw at the sidewalk into the hoops -
the boys loved this and they kept asking for more poppers!
The fishing EVENT. . . at the Kade's Fishin' Hole.
Only part we didn't plan for was all the tangled lines - guess it was just like REAL fishin'!
Keian dismantling my hard work - homemade fish with google eyes.
My BIG helpers!
I told Kirra she could invite Daphne to the party and they could be helpers - they were great!

Kade and his FISH pinata.

Pizza and grapes for lunch.
I read on a website one time to take pictures of your kids with their friends and the gifts they are given.  It's a fun memory of who was there and it makes Thank You's a breeze!

Kade acting totally thrilled that Kirra insisted they read the card before he opened the present!

Fishy Parachute - gelly toy fish quietly bobbing around until the kids could no long stand it and then they would throw the fish in the air!
Fun Party!
