This year for spring break we decided a stay-cation would be easier since we have a baby who does not like his car seat. We had a great week, especially since Daddy stayed home, too!
On Monday Scott took the kids to the Lego Movie and then Kyler and I met them at Golden Corral for dinner. Golden Corral is a big hit with our kids because it has a chocolate fountain and cotton candy! It was on their spring break request list.
On Tuesday Scott rented a Bobcat and worked on leveling the back yard. I had a nasty migraine so I wasn't able to take the kids to the zoo like we had planned - but I have awesome friends who saved me and took my kids for me. Thanks Staten's and Leckbee's.
On Wednesday we went to Hoots! with the Esplin's and the kids played for HOURS!
We watched many groups come and go, but we for sure got our money's worth.
We got a $30 groupon that got 8 kids in - pretty good deal!
Things really got rowdy when Scott got there and started chasing everyone!
After Hoots it was off the the Marriott Pyramid hotel here in ABQ for a little swimming -
the Esplin's joined us there, too.
The pool was cold so the warm shower was quite popular!
Shivering!
On Thursday I got to go out to an early lunch with some friends to celebrate a birthday. It was so nice to be out with just other ladies and enjoy some yummy food and conversation. When I got home Scott took the kids to Hinkle Family Fun Center (another awesome Groupon deal got them a whole day of fun for about 1/3 of the cost of regular admission). They stayed until late in the evening and still didn't want to come home!
Friday Scott and the kids got up early and went fishing at a fish hatchery up near Fenton Lake.
A fishing trip is successful when everyone catches a fish!
On Saturday after four soccer games we headed over to Mama's Minerals for an Easter egg hunt. Our friends, the Wu's, let us know about this egg hunt that you have to get tickets for in advance. When you arrive they give you a number and you get to find 8 eggs with that number on them. Inside are rocks and minerals from their shop. When you think of an egg hunt you usually think of it being fast and furious - this one was slow and methodical as everyone hunted for their numbered eggs.
Kirra and Brea
I wish I would have taken a picture when all the eggs were on the ground -
but this whole place was covered in eggs!
Face painting and snow cones!
I think we'd try another stay-cation again someday! We had a wonderful week!
