Rangers TBall

This boy loves baseball!  We were lucky enough to get the same coach as last year (maybe my requesting him had something to do with it) and Kade enjoys him so much.
He thrives on being in the INFIELD!

Here's his second base skills.
The ball is hit and he knows its coming to him. . .
 A perfect scoop. . .
 A little bobble. . .

A quick pick up with the right hand (quite a smart move for a 5 year old - lots of times little kids try to use their mitts when a bare hand would be much more effective).
Running to 2nd to beat the runner. . .

And the race is on!. . . .
 And the runner is OUT!
Kade's goal every game is to hit the ball to the grass - he's achieving his goals every game.
Here's the ball he hit out in center field. . .

Rounding 1st. . .
 And headed to 2nd. . . .

 To make it a DOUBLE!
Oops!  This was the first game they let the kids take more than one base if the ball was hit to the outfield.  This little girl on his team watched him run to 2nd and he had to tell her to GET GOING!
The coveted position - pitcher!  In Tball this is the place to be!

When I saw this picture it made me think of another Famous Ranger. . .
Here's MLB player, Nolan Ryan on the mound.
The only reason I know much about this guy is from all the time I spent with the Rietkerk's.
This is for you John!

A great scoop. . .
 A good throw. . . .
And a skill all the boys need to work on - catching! :)

My Kids

We were at a park yesterday so I could check lighting for a photo shoot and I used my kids as subjects.  They are my FAVORITE subjects!

Love this girl!

 Oh, Bubs!

CUTE Boy!  He wouldn't be happy if he knew I wrote that - but this kid is CUTE!

For some reason when I was getting ready for this shot Kade thought I only wanted Keian in the picture and he was NOT happy about it!

Trek Exercise

This is an email I sent to the other couples that will be Ma's and Pa's on our Stake Pioneer Trek in July!

Hello!

Just wanted you to know I've found a very effective way of preparing for Trek.

I have two little boys ages 3 & 5 - they weigh 40 pounds each.  Put them in the wagon and walk up and down the hilly roads out in the acres. . . . .

They will give all kind of encouragement  -
*"RUN! RUN FASTER!"
*They pretend they are using a whip and yell "as fast as you can"
*If you tell them they are heavy as you are struggling up a hill - "What?  We're heavy?  The Trek will be much harder than this!"
*"We don't want the sidewalk - we want bumps in road."
*"Ah, the road isn't fun - we wish we could go through there!" (empty, sandy lot full of cactus and sagebrush - perfect preparation as I catered to their request)
*"What we have to head towards home?  That's not fun." (We'd already been out 40 minutes)

They really feel like they are contributing to my trek experience as they giggle, sip their water, often times eating their breakfast and making up all kind of stories.

I will happily share them with anyone who is having a hard time finding ways to physically prepare for Trek.  :)

Looking forward to serving with all of you.
