Out with the Crib In with McQueen!

Keian's last night in "his room" in his crib.

Keian's Room. . . well, his crib in Mommy and Daddy's bedroom with walls made out of blankets.  When people would ask where his room is he would run back to our room and pull back the blanket and say, "There's my room!"

And then. . .the next night in his very own McQueen bed!
Kirra & Kade were so excited for him!

Keian REALLY wanted Daddy to "sleep liff me!"

We quickly discovered our boy is quite large for a toddler bed, but how he loves it!

What a Swimmer!

Hands down my favorite sporting event to watch that one of my kids has participated in.
I love the rush of competition and seeing how amazing this girl is in the water!

Kirra & Brynn diving in for the 25M free style - if you look closely Kirra's goggles are up on her head instead of over her eyes.  Scott and I didn't notice but we did notice her struggling to do any kind of good swimming.  She kept stopping and then holding onto the rope because she was trying to get them on.  She ended up with a sixth place ribbon and was crushed that she'd forgotten her goggles and did so poorly.  Kirra said, "I just in and when I opened my eyes under water everything was blurry!"  When she got out of the pool she kept saying that she couldn't see - and I thought maybe her goggles had sunscreen on them, but it was just that they weren't over her eyes!

This is Jared - I just loved this action shot so I included it in my post.
Here's Kirra starting the 25M Butterfly
Those are BIG breaths of air!

This race turned out a LOT better and she was so proud to get a 2nd place ribbon.
A little off the map during the 25M backstroke. . .
But she got things straightened out. . .
And if she would have kept going strong to the end she would have gotten first place - but on the back stroke she gets nervous she is going to hit the wall and starts slowing and looking when she gets close.  Another 2nd place and a great race!
Kirra and Brynn again - this time for the 50M Freestyle
 Look at that form!

Here she is approaching the wall for her first 25M
And the FLIP turn!  Scott and I had to convince her to do this race - she didn't want to because she doesn't like to do the flip turn at the end of the first 25M - but she does great!
She kind of stopped for half-second and looked up at me.
And then was off again to swim for the finish line!

Kirra's first individual 1st place finish and she won by a lot!
 Now for 25M Breaststroke
 And ANOTHER 1st place finish!
When she was done with the race they handed her a white ribbon and I said, "She got first!"  They then told me that it was a first place ribbon - and sure enough they had scratched out 8th place and written 1st - apparently they ran out of Blues!
Start of the 4x25M Freestyle relay.
 Kirra was the 3rd leg. . .

And her team won before any other team's 4th leg was in the water - another 1st place!
What a great swim day!  I am so proud of this girl for how far she has come in two years.  Literally at the beginning of May 2010 I wouldn't even have said she could really swim - and now she is winning blue ribbons in swim meets. What a girl!

I Hope They Call Me On a Mission

Kade had a lesson on being a missionary in primary and now he is our resident expert on the topic.
Kade: "I'm going to be a missionary! Where do you think I'll go?"
Mommy: Names places all over the globe though not the one he was looking for.
Kade: "I'll go to Africa!"

Kade: "Boys are supposed to go on missions, girls get to chose to go if they really want."

Crazy Bubs

Keian has learned from the big kids that anytime you need to chose who's going to be "It" for a game you do 'Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum, in a dish.  How many pieces do you wish?"  Though Keian's interpretation of the words are "Baukagan, Baukagan in a dish.  How many pieces do you wish?"
