McEntire Indians

We did TWO family photo shoots this year - not because we wanted to - because our photographer had a camera glitch during the first one and the pictures turned out way low quality.  Funny thing about the outdoor shoot was that when we got to the park there were actual Native Americans in the park, with headbands, incense, drums, etc teaching their small children how to dance.  Only in NM would we be dressed and Indians and end up at a park with Native Americans teaching their children the real arts.  When we changed into our costumes we beelined for the opposite end of the park!

In the end it was OK we had to do a re-shoot because we realized with the first shoot that even a little bit of breeze made our red Indian feathers a bit hard to manage.  So for our "costume shoot" we went to his studio.  The kids ate it up!  Kirra would go back and model in that studio any day!

We had to do some convincing (just like every other year) to get the boys on board with our family theme idea.  It was more difficult this year to pick a theme since I do NOT make our costumes - we had to find something we could buy that would fit my pregnant belly.  We found the Indian idea online and went about talking it up to the boys. This year once I told them I'd buy bow and arrows to go with their costumes there were in!

Ward Halloween 2013

We have about the most fun church group you could ever meet!
We are so lucky to belong to a ward that LOVES to dress up!
I love Halloween!

Here's Thing 1 & Thing 2 - they are the one year old Clark twins.
They did amazingly well and left those adorable blue hats on for quite a while!
Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs (oh, and Prince Charming, too:)
This is my good friend, Sarah, and her family, including their almost 9 month old twin girls.
And of course Sarah whipped up those great costumes during the week of the party!
The Gariety's always have fabulous costumes and this year was no exception!
Wizard of Oz, complete with a yellow brick road!
Indian Maiden and a Pink Crayon
Gru and his Minions (Breinholt boys)
 Ah, donuts on a string!
You should have seen this boy when he was done! :)
Talk about a sticky MESS!
 Tin Man and Indian Warrior
 Hatch Family
Julie and cute Emma!  The Trapnell's were farmers and all their kids were farm animals - though there was never a time they were altogether to get a group shot!
 Scarecrow & Indian Warrior
 Cake Walk Prize!
 Cute, cute girls!

Love his eye squinting to get a better look at the target.

Keian and Dopey (oh, I mean Nate).  Favorite quote of the week was from Nate, though since I can type with the inflection he used its not as great.
"I can't be a Ghost or a Pumpkin for Halloween, I gotta be Dopey."
If you don't watch the show you may not know what these two are - but if you do you'll see that they are a great impression of Sheldon Cooper & Amy Farrah Fowler on Big Bang Theory!
We usually do a few pictures of our own family at these events, but I'm not really in the mood for being in pictures.  I'll post after Halloween of all of us dressed up.

Pumpkin Carving 2013

I haven't posted in a LONG time, but since these pictures won't take much explanation I decided to put them on the blog! :)

A time-honored tradition at the McEntire house - Carving Pumpkins!
We are VERY lucky because the last few years our pumpkins have been
home-grown by Paula Castle and they are awesome!
Thick as can be, hardly any seeds and goop inside and this year they were huge!
Kade is really growing up because there was a time he wouldn't even touch the insides!

Keian did a great job this year cleaning out his pumpkin!

Designing

Keian wanted a Ninjago Pumpkin face - he was pretty satisfied with how it turned out.

So nice to have extra adults to help scrape out the pumpkins and help carve.  I am kind of useless for most things right now and this was just that kind of event.  I did help Kade with some of his carving but my back wouldn't handle the digging and scraping of the insides.

This is such a lovely picture!

The kids loved the idea of "ghosts" behind the pumpkins so they ran around like crazies while I had the shutter open on the camera.

And for some fun!

Left the shutter open for a couple seconds while the kids moved their tea lights all over the place.  Created some fun effects!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
