I'm Still Here. . .

Just have been busier than I could have ever imagined! Summer is not relaxing. . . it is GO GO GO! My children are ruined - they expect something fun everyday and the very few times we haven't had something on the calendar there has been an uproar. So that is a big reason my blog has gone by the wayside this summer, and another reason is that I took so many pictures at Nick's wedding that the task of wading through the professional pictures, my pictures and my dad's pictures has been daunting. I like to blog in chronological order so I've told myself until I get the wedding done I cannot move on. The main reason, though, is that Scott hasn't had one business trip since the end of May. We've loved having him home, but the blog has suffered as I usually put the kids to bed on the nights he is gone, pick up the house, do the dishes, start some laundry and then sit at the computer until late into the night. . . blogging. I'll catch up someday!

Life As We Know It. . . .

Is changing because Keian is moving!

Not quite crawling, but slithering - and quickly!
He's just started sitting up on his own the last few days. . . meaning he can sit himself up from laying down. He's been sitting unaided for weeks and weeks, but now that he can do it by himself he's a big boy.

It is a NIGHTMARE to change his diaper - the second you lay him on his back he rolls over to his belly. Diaper changes and clothes changes are really a sweat inducing activity.

He LOVES his jarred baby food and always wants to eat when we are eating - saying, "Na, Na, Na" when he needs more.
How lucky we are to have such a happy boy in our lives!

Sunburn

Yes, I do use sunscreen on my kids. Kirra and Kade have never been sunburned and look at this kid. We were in a hurry to get out the door, he was wiggling all over the place and I didn't want to get the sunscreen in his eyes. Apparently not around his eyes either. I really felt like a horrible mom when he woke up from his nap and this is what he looked like.I do have to say we had a great time on the hike that caused this sunburn. We went with Kellie, Isaac and Eliza to the base of the Sandia Mountains and had fun hiking up the hill, over rocks and under branches.

Keian was in the hiking backpack and as the trail got steeper and the rocks bigger I got nervous about my center of gravity being off so we turned around. We got out our lunches at a picnic table at the trail head and then quickly put our lunches away because the teeny tiniest gnats wanted to eat us and our food. We jumped in the car and had lunch in the grass under the shade of a tree at a park. The kids played and played and Kellie and I enjoyed watching them get along so well. Kirra and Isaac made tunnels in the sand and sand birthday cake creations.

UNM Duck Pond

Today Kellie and I decided the kids needed an afternoon outing and since she had a loaf of bread that went bad we decided to find some duck to feed. The UNM Duck Pond sounded like a great place to go. . . . if the ducks would have been hungry. There were pieces of bread floating in the water, uneaten. The kids never seem to let the little things get them down or get bothered if plans go array - they had so much fun anyway!Catching a turtle with a stick - Isaac is quite the turtle catcher.Keian is so good natured and loves to watch what's going on around him. Love this grin!
And this Mohawk!

It was great to visit with Kellie as the kids raced from one side of the pond to another. I am truly blessed to have a friend like her!
