Trick-or-Treat 2008

"Trick-or-Treat. . . I want a sucker!" That's what Kade said at every door and then had a hard time not opening the candy immediately! Kirra and Kade had a wonderful time trick-or-treating and would have stayed out even later if Daddy hadn't told them their sacks were getting to heavy to carry! They started out with a visit to the Castle's, came home to trick-or-treat in our neighborhood and then off to the Steel's house and neighborhood. We have so much candy!

When the kids got in the car to head to the Castle's Scott said something about first, we'll go see the Castle's and then "we'll hit the Ames" meaning that they would stop at the Ames house to trick-or-treat. Kirra heard Scott say "hit the Ames" and she said, "Hit the Ames? That's not nice!"

Is there anything in this bag?

Maybe if I stick my head in I will find some candy!
I'm late to deliver my packages!

Angel all the way!

Pictures with the pumpkins before they headed out to get their loot!
Last year we totally scored at Walmart getting tons of outdoor Halloween decor at 90% off. It was fun to have orange and purple lights decorating the house and yard this Halloween. Our newest pumpkin spent most of the night asleep.

Halloween Day

My crazies on Halloween! Kade had 4 Halloween shirts this year - I got them for .49 cents each last year at Target when they went 90% off. Kirra used the same shirt she did last year - always nice when things last and can be used more than once!Kirra & Daddy

Donut Face

Scott brought home some donuts from Albertson's the other day. Looks like from the pictures that Kade really enjoyed them - if enjoying is poking the donut and smearing frosting EVERYWHERE!

Ginormous Pumpkin Carving

These are the pumpkins Castle grew. . . just for Kirra & Kade! Baby Keian was sleeping so our family picture is missing the newest member of the McEntire family - I'm sure he didn't mind!Kade loved the 'digging'Kade wanted Nana to see his work.Kade was not so fond of the pumpkin guts being on his hands! Kirra was just like that when she was his age - "get it off"!
Look at how thick the shell of Kirra's pumpkin was!"Wook at our pumkins!"

Using brooms to take care of the mounds of leaves in the backyard.
Scott had to make his own pumpkin creation. . .always with ears.Farmer Scarecrow KirraHAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Love My Scarecrow

Today Kirra was a scarecrow. . . a very CUTE scarecrow!

All the kindergarten kids at her elementary dressed up as scarecrows for their Fall Festival (notice I didn't call it her Halloween Party. . . against the rules). It was hard to convince her that she wanted raffia (fill in for straw) coming out of her pockets, but once she consented and then looked in the mirror she liked it. It was her idea to put little freckles on her face - I started out with five but she had me remove them and only put three per cheek. Kade was some kind of bandanna monster - not to be outdone by his sister.

Oh, my girl knows how to pose!
Three classes of scarecrows. . .they paraded around with the rest of the school.
This picture makes Kirra seem so old to me.l . .just hanging out waiting for something to happen.
Kade found Kirra waiting for their turn to get in the parade and ran up and gave her a hug!
Kirra and her scarecrow boys - there are 11 boys in her class!

Epidural vs. Natural

Most of my friends that have talked to me about this pregnancy knew that I did NOT want to be induced and would maybe even be willing to try labor and delivery without an epidural. I read a few books about natural childbirth and did research on the internet as to the benefits of doing things more natural – I learned more this pregnancy than I had with the other two combined. I had no idea what labor is really like so I didn’t rule out an epidural, but I was hoping to avoid one so I could not end up with all the side affects that I did with Kade (ex: my bladder not working right for over a week, nausea, light-headedness, bladder infection).

I’m not sure I was planning on having the baby 31 minutes after we arrived at the hospital, but at least it didn’t last too long! I feel so much better on the recovery side than I have with my other two babies so this part feels better, but I’ll have to think long and hard about going through the natural labor thing again.

Billi Bed

Keian had jaundice so we had to keep him on a billi-bed that had lights to help him move the bilirubin out of his body. Keian was NOT a fan of the bed and his little sleeping bag type thing he had to be in while on the bed. Two different times when we tried to put him on the bed he got really bad hiccups and threw up a lot of milk. I swear if he was older I would think he was doing it on purpose to get out of something he didn't like!
We didn't leave Keian in the family room on his billi-bed very long. . . our special helpers, Kirra and Kade, couldn't leave him alone for more than a few seconds!
