The Ceremony
Nick walking Mom and Dad down the aisle.
Brett walking Grandpa and Grandma down the aisle.
We were never concerned about Kirra performing her flower girl duties - she has been so excited for months. She looked like a little princess!
Kade, on the other hand, was always the variable - we were never quite sure what we would get with this almost three year old. Well, we got something good! Nick & Brett instructed me that on the day of the wedding Kade got anything he wanted - to keep him in a good mood. He carried the pillow down the aisle (no real rings attached) like he was supposed to and then dropped it at the end. . .
And then he went over to the side and stuck both his hands down his pants! You can see him in the lower right of this picture. I had Keian in my arms so I pointed him out to Nana and had her go get him to sit with us.
I love these pictures of Nick and Jess looking at each other.

The "Officiator" at the wedding was quite the all-round guy. He was their wedding planner, DJ, officiator, etc. I'm guessing he started out as a DJ and then had been to so many weddings he could run them. He told the wedding party how to walk in, where to stand, what to do, married Nick and Jess, announced them when they came into the reception, played songs, and organized dances.
The Groomsmen -
So we really were at a wedding, not a funeral and I don't remember being quite that emotional, but it was a tender ceremony.

Nick & Jess - June 12, 2009
Nick and Jess's wedding day was beautiful! The weather in early June in Idaho this year was less than desirable so they were so lucky that June 12th turned out to be an amazing day. It wasn't too hot, wasn't cold (like predicted) and the rain stayed away.

Maybe it's because I'm his sister, but I think this is a pretty handsome dude!

The photographer didn't let Nick see Jess while he was taking pictures of her before the wedding until he took Nick out into this field and made him wait for her. He said this was the point he started sweating bullets and getting really nervous. No peeking. . .
I love the look on Nick's face that the photographer captured - he was rapturedby his wife-to-be's beauty.
They make such a good looking couple!

I love shots like this. Jess wore the same veil her mom wore when she got married to Jess's dad.
Some privacy please!
Fowler Kids - I am lucky to have such incredible brothers. I wish we got to spend more time together! And I am sure Brett will have you know that I have on high heels and he was standing in a hole. He's only barely an 1/2 inch shorter than Nick and a few inches taller than me, though it doesn't look like it here.
We are Fowler - well I'm legally a McEntire now but you know what I mean. The bummer of the day was we didn't get a family picture with this group plus Scott and the kids. Also not a family picture of my little family. I was distraught about it, but then when I found out Nick and Jess's photographer gave them their wedding CD I was just plain ticked we forgot. They were able to get any pictures they wanted just by printing them at Costco. We could have had awesome Christmas cards for cheap. Oh, well such is life!

The gorgeous Bride - we are so lucky Nick found this girl. She is perfect for him (she hunts and likes it - that was a big bonus for Nick). We love her because she is good with our kids - they adore her - and she's supportive of Nick and his endeavors. She is a police officer with the Boise Police Department and now her nametag says "Officer Fowler". It really is hard to believe that Jess is a police officer when you see this picture of her. We love you Jess!

Bass Lake
How can I resist taking pictures of this little guy. . . he is such a happy boy!
And no, we don't cut his hair Mohawk style - it just grows that way!
One of the best things we did while we were in Idaho was go to Bass Lake with a friend I grew up with, Erin, and her mom, Rhonda. Erin had a little girl the same age as Kirra and the girls got together a few times while we were there and had a blast together. Bass Lake is private and you have to be a member of the country club to be at the lake - but you can also go with a member. Rhonda had a huge lunch ready for us when we arrived - she remembers the thousands of hours I spent in their home when I was younger and she knows food is a best way to my heart.
My mom will not be pleased with this picture - but it has a story. We were up at the picnic tables eating when Kirra and Alx came running up and asked if they could go down the slide into the water. I told Kirra, sure, but she needed to wait for someone to come down there to watch her. I guess she didn't hear the last part as she ran down the beach, down the dock, up the slide ladder and straight down into the water. It was the first time Kirra was in water this summer season and she doesn't really know how to swim - so instead of the life-guard doing anything about my little girl flailing in the water Nana ran down to the rescue and jumped in the lake, fully clothed, and got Kirra out. Thank goodness Nick had some shorts in his truck or mom would have been stuck in WET jean capri's the rest of the day.
The Perrine Bridge over the Snake River Canyon - what a view! That bridge is the ticket to Twin Falls, ID. When I was younger it used to feel like the 20 miles on the interstate to go shopping in Twin took a long time - now that I have lived here and things are so spread out and you are in traffic everywhere you go it seems totally fast.

After the 'slide' incident Kirra took to building sand castles for awhile. The sand at this little lake was awesome and perfect for building.

Kirra doesn't look very much like me. . . but Alx is a spitting image of her mom at this age. I seriously kept looking at her and having flashbacks to when Erin and I were playing at the same age.
Nick & Brett came all the way from Boise to partake of the fishing at Bass Lake. When Rhonda told me the kids catch a fish with almost every cast and the best bait is hot dogs Nick and Brett were all over it. Two big kids!
The one millisecond Keian left a hat on his head. Kade was much better about wearing hats, Keian despises them and they make him so mad.
Contemplation. . .
Kirra finally got brave again and instead of going down the slide she and Alx jumped into rings off the dock.
Nick & Brett finally came in after some serious fishing and they took the kids for a canoe ride.
Uncle Brett and the kids lounging while Uncle Nick did all the work!
Keian and Daddy. . .
Uncle Brett and Keian - baby looks like he's dressed for winter but when the day started out it wasn't very warm. At least most of him was protected from the sun.
Mommy got a ride next - it looks like I might be doing something with that oar, but I was just moving it to a new spot. Scott took care of the rowing and steering for the whole canoe.
The fish in the lake were amazing!
We caught bass, blue gill, and perch and some of the biggest ones of those species Nick had ever seen.
Here's my dad helping me hold the bass I caught. . . .
I dropped it and screamed like a 5 year old girl and got quite a teasing from all those around me.
I finally held onto it long enough to have Nick snap a picture.
Ah, this is the life. . . .a beautiful view, fish, and the outdoors.
Alx, Erin, Amber, Kirra and Kade. Thanks to Rhonda and Erin for such a fun afternoon! We really did have a great time and wish we could go with you all summer long. I appreciate all your family has done for us throughout the years and I count you as a great blessing in my life. I'm sad I don't have any pictures with Rhonda in them. . .
