Kids Fishing Fair
On Saturday I woke up early and headed down to the Cannery to help can dried apple slices and sugar. It was actually quite enjoyable - I was working, learning and visiting with friends. It is amazing what resources the church has to offer us.
While I was gone Scott put together a lunch for us and then we went down to Tingley Beach to a Kids Fishing Fair. It's always fun to get out and do something out of the ordinary, so after a good tip from Kellie about this little fair we decided we'd go to Tingley Beach for the first time and learn about fish.
There was a game about trash and Kirra was guessing about how long it takes for diapers, plastic bottles, glass, newspaper, etc to breakdown if it is left on the ground. We also talked to a Fish and Game Officer that showed us some dissected fish - we learned about gills, scales, lateral lines and lot of other fish parts I never knew about.
There were volunteers who had caught crayfish (they look like small lobsters) right out of the water, along with snails and leeches.
Kirra made a trout fish print with paint. It was interesting carrying a wet paper around for awhile until it dried.
After we went to the educational booths we headed over to the model boat pond and sat at a picnic table and had lunch.
The geese were pretty interested in our lunch so we had to chase them off until we were done. The kids saved the crusts of their sandwiches (what a sacrifice) for the geese so when we were done they could feed them. Geese are pretty big birds and they are not nice!
When were done eating Scott rigged up the fishing poles and the kids tried to hook some trout. There were so many people there that we were pretty sure there wasn't going to be any trout dinner for us, but the kids had fun anyway.
Kade can't wait to go fishing in Idaho with his Papa so he can catch lots of fish!
Kirra had a great time.
Keian is seriously the most easy going child there ever was! He slept most of the time we were at Tingley Beach and then we he woke up he happily chewed on his octopus until he got too hungry and then started to fuss.
All porked up with some yummy milk! On the way to the car we got to "watch some grandfathers fight each other with their sail boats" (is how Kirra explained it to my mom on the phone).

So I just couldn't walk by and not take a picture of the "Cootie" car. So funny! This car was covered in plastic bugs inside and out and even has some sort of metal bug on the top. Whatever would posses someone to do this is beyond me, but it was a great laugh.
The day was a success and even better we were able to transfer Kade from his car seat to his bed and he slept for two hours.

The 20's Are Waning
My half birthday has never bugged me so much!
Today I turned 29 1/2 - I only have six months left before I enter the uncharted 30's! And just so you know. . . the only reason I know it's my half birthday is that my brother, Brett, turned 23 today. Happy Birthday Brett! We are 6 1/2 years apart so we always have our 1/2 birthdays on each others birthdays.
Here are my issues: I think turning 30 truly makes me an adult (I don't wanna grow up!). When we moved to Albuquerque in 2001 we were a "young couple" in our ward, I was always one of the youngest when I worked at Sandia, and I was even a "young mother". Now, it seems I am just a mom and I am no longer 'young'! I do have to keep voting though because it makes me feel younger than my age. A few weeks ago I went to vote in a school board election and when I walked into the room one of the guys helping with the voting process said, "are you even old enough to vote?" When I informed him I was 29 with three kids he said, "bet you have to show your ID every time you go to a bar." Maybe I would if I had ever tried to get into a bar! My mom asked me if I was going to have a breakdown in August when I turned 30 and I didn't have an answer for that. I hope not, but we'll see! :)

Not A Huge Fan
I'm not a huge fan of being a single mother. . . and I don't know how women do it on their own! I am NOT a very good mom when I don't get a break. February has been a huge travel month for Scott, yet again, and it is starting to wear on me. I always have to think of our Bishop's wife when I get discouraged. . . he is gone A LOT for work and then when he is home he's at the church. If I keep thinks in perspective I do better - but sometimes I wish I was the one who got to go away for a few days!

4 Months
Oh, how we love our Bubbas!

This boy LOVES to smile and we love to see him smile. He is really starting to think Kirra and Kade are funny and they think it's great when they get a reaction out of him.

Keian figured out how to roll from his back to his tummy on February 6th so now every time I put him on the floor he immediately rolls over and then cries because he does NOT like being on his belly.

BYU YA
Scott and I went on an actual date on Saturday - amazing I know! Our babysitter arrived at 3:30 p.m. and we left at 3:45 to head over to Rio Rancho High School to watch the BYU Young Ambassadors perform "The New Music Makers". I loved it! Scott tolerated it. I think Keian kept wondering what was going on. They sang songs from many different eras, but my favorite hands down was the ABBA songs. The costumes were so fun and it always amazes me how fast they can change their clothes! There aren't enough opportunities to do things like this for a good price - it was only $7 a ticket.
After the performance we stopped at Olive Garden and discovered the wait to eat was an hour so we opted for Chick-fil-a (we are getting one on our side of town on April 16th - yeah!) and it is always yummy. We arrived home to a clean house and the dishes from dinner were washed. Wow! I think that might have been the best part of the night! Thanks Maddie!

Waffles, French Fries and a Movie
Keian knows what it's all about - remote control power! He loves the thing already!
Kirra and Kade love movie nights. On Friday night we had planned to have a family picnic in the family room, but Scott was going to be home late so the kids picked to have waffles at the table for dinner. I really wanted hash browns, too, but we were out so I baked some French fries to go along with our waffles and eggs. It was delicious!
We rented Madagascar 2 from the Redbox (love those things) and the kids had a great time watching the silly animals and chowing down on their popcorn. Kade gets pretty protective of his popcorn - he left the bowl and I thought he was done so I grabbed it and starting eating. Big mistake! He was rather miffed that I would even consider taking over his goods.
The kids usually get all snuggly in their sleeping bags, but when the popcorn comes out I make them move their sleeping bags off to the side until they are done with popcorn. I'm not too excited at the thoughts of dry cleaning Kirra's new sleeping bag anytime soon!

5 Ring Circus
That's what was going on in our bed last night. And no, I'm not sharing private information! Scott and I actually went to bed before 11:00 p.m. and it was a good thing we did because we woke up to Kirra calling for us at 12:45 a.m. - she had thrown up on the floor of her room. She said she didn't know if she could get out of bed to run to the toilet. Anyway, Scott cleaned up the floor and I changed the sheets. I wasn't quite sure if Kirra had been coughing or if she had a stomach bug, but we found out soon enough because she threw up about every half hour until 7:00 a.m. She fell asleep in between being sick, but every time she flinched I bolted up thinking she was going to throw up again.
Then at 5:15 a.m. things got even more interesting. I was nursing Keian, Kirra was sleeping for the time being, and Kade stared crying. Scott went in to comfort him and he wanted to sleep in Daddy's bed and wouldn't have anything else. When Scott brought Kade in he tried to smush his pillow in the wrong place (according to Kade) and Kade became hysterical, screaming and crying. So Scott finally got it figured out where Kade wanted his pillow, I got Keian back in the bassinet, snuggled in next to Kade, Kirra was asleep on the other side and Scott just slept on top of the covers towards the end of the bed. I went and got a blanket to cover Scott up and made him turn over to face Kirra in case she got sick and I couldn't reach her. Morning can't come too quickly on nights like those - good thing we have a king sized bed!

Yee Haw!
I am all caught up on my blogging! Here’s what I usually do. . .I download pictures while I am doing other things on the computer and then I don’t get to the journaling part until much later. I also make drafts of things I want to blog about with a few key words and it’s taken me quite some time to get around to writing about them. When I post a blog I also put the actual date it happened and not the date I blogged about it so this can really be a journal of our lives. So if you are checking this blog and have read a few of the recent posts – there are lots of old things posted clear back until January 16th.

President's Day Hike
We love Albuquerque! Can you see why from this picture? The sky is a brilliant blue, the mountains are beautiful and it's February 16th. And in honor of our President's we took a hike with Kellie, Isaac and Eliza.
We went the the Open Space area of Elena Gallegos and enjoyed being outside.
Kade and Eliza doing some serious rock climbing.

The mighty hikers.
The kids getting the most out of the structure built around the pond so to keep us from disturbing the animals. Here's Kade trying to climb over. . . Kellie had to help me out with him quite a few times since I was wearing Keian.
Sticks had to be banned late into our hike - they are dangerous in the hands of little ones!
After much protesting, Keian finally went to sleep! He was NOT happy that I put him in the Moby and he had to face inward for his ride. He like to face outward to see what is going on, but it was way too windy for him to do that.
We always have a great time when we are with the Vigoren's! My kids are ready to go again.

Sugar Cookies
We were lucky enough to get to go to Leckbee's to frost Valentine cookies. . . yes, just a couple days after Valentine's - but it was a lot of fun and very yummy. Jill's frosting is delicious (the secret ingredient is shortening) and we all ate ourselves sick!
Jill thought it would be a good idea to scoop the frosting onto the kids' plates so that when all the licking was going on they were doubling and triple dipping and sharing all their germs. Good thinking because there was a lot of knife and finger licking.
Kade and Sarah are becoming good friends - they are almost exactly nine months apart but they do well together.
Kirra and Rachel have been friends for years, but now that they are both in school (at different elementary's) they dont' get to see each other as often as they would like. They enjoy any time they get!

Da $2 Bumbo
Keian's first time in his Bumbo was a success! I only wanted two things for baby #3 and a Bumbo was one of them. Not too long before Keian was born Kirra and I were yard saling and came across a huge baby sale and for two whole dollars I got a $40 Bumbo. Yeah!
So up until now the Bumbo has been a great play toy, seat, hat, etc. for Kirra and Kade. They fought over it for weeks when I first brought it home and it had started to lose it's popularity until I put Keian in it and now it's fun again.
