Big Reader!

Here is a picture of Keian with his preschool class -
He is the one sitting on the stool reading a book to the class.
He was so proud of himself on the day
he took a book and read it to everyone!
He is becoming a fabulous reader and he loves it!

Swimming Debut

6-15-2013

Nope - not Keian's swimming debut - though he would have loved it to be!
He was happily trying on Kirra's swim cap and showing it off.

Swimming with friends makes it even better!
Kirra and Daphne after their medley rely - Daphne swam the back and Kirra the butterfly.

And here he is for his FIRST race ever!
He was so excited to race - he was even in tears when he didn't get to race in the medley relay - he thought that meant he didn't get to race in anything all day!

GO!
And then the Butterfly!
Kade is pretty concerned about where everyone else is in the race and
spends a lot of time looking around!

On the warm up bleachers.
Scott says swimming is the great equalizer - the kid Kade is sitting next to him smoked him in the water but Kade would school him in a foot race!

Ah, sweet BLUE!

Kade wanted his picture with his 3rd place ribbon - his best of the day.  This boy is so competitive!  He wants to get 1st or 2nd so bad but he's in a division that has kids 8 and Under so there are kids  older and with more experience.  He'll keep getting better!  He swam every single event he could and then even convinced his coach that next week he needs to do the medley relay so he can get seven ribbons like Kirra did, instead of his six he got today.

Idaho - Spring Break 2013

1,964 miles took us from ABQ to Wendell to Boise to Wendell and back to ABQ again.

We left ABQ on a Thursday afternoon and spent the night in Green River, UT.  Its always a bit discouraging when the 4 year old says, "We're almost there!" when  you are one hour into a 14 hour drive.  He did a lot of sighing and moaning this trip. On Friday morning after breakfast Scott and the kids headed down to the pool at the hotel while I got ready and everything packed up. We left the hotel about 9:45 and drove to Provo where we picked up Spencer Steel for a quick lunch at Cafe Rio.  Can't be in Utah and Idaho and not get my Cafe Rio fix!  It was fun to visit with Spencer and also remember the first time we picked him up from BYU and took him out to lunch - quite a few years ago.  After we dropped Spencer off we drove to Kaysville and stopped to visit my Grandma Parke who was staying with my Uncle Wayne.  It was her birthday on the 10th and we wanted to make sure to get a visit in while we were up north.  We were all excited to arrive in Wendell on Friday evening - that drive doesn't get any shorter!

Brett and Brooke came to Wendell on Friday night and Nick and Jess came Saturday morning carrying cupcakes with filling that would reveal the gender of their new baby.  When we all took at bite at the same time we were excited to find PINK frosting.  Little Makayla Jo is due August 5th and that will make me an aunt for the first time on my side of the family.

Basketball Boys

Monday morning we drove to Boise and the kids got to spend the afternoon with Uncle Nick at his school doing P.E.  They were in heaven!  P.E. is for sure Kade's favorite subject in school and to get to do it for five class periods was a real treat.  Nick said during the first class he had explained everything and he looked over and Keian was hanging his head and starting to cry.  Nick was worried it was a sign it was going to be a long afternoon!  He asked Keian what was wrong and he said, "I'm so confused!"  He just didn't get the instructions Nick had given for the game.

After their P.E. adventure I had the kids takes naps (well Kirra read a book) so they could stay up for our late night ahead.  After naps we went to Pizza Hut for dinner and then took the kids to Wahooz for a little LazerTag and arcade games.  The highlight of the evening was attending Nick and Brett's city league basketball tournament game at 9:00 p.m. - okay so maybe it wasn't the highlight since they lost, but it was fun to watch them play.

How Bubs watches basketball - from all over the gym!

We got back from the game late and didn't get the kids to bed until midnight.  Yikes!  They were having so much fun playing with Jess and her dog, Grizz.  Keian woke up at 2:30 and had wet the bed so we put him in the tub and stripped the bed.  With no more sheets available the boys got in the double bed Scott and I had been sharing and they shared with Daddy while I got on the couch cushions on the floor with Kirra.  What a lovely night!

Tuesday we went to visit my college roommate, Jenn, and her cute kids.  They live in a gorgeous neighborhood in Eagle, ID with a pond right behind the house.  Brett came over and he, Scott and the kids tried their hand at catching some fish.  They didn't get any bites, but had fun throwing rocks!  It was so great to get to visit with Jenn and catch up on things going on with her family.

After we left Jenn's Scott wanted to stop at the outlet stores just outside Boise.  It didn't sound too appealing to me because pretty much every time we've gone to an outlet mall Scott finds like 100 new things I don't find anything.  This time was different though!  Scott dropped me off at a store while he took the kids to some other stores and ended up finding some dresses.  I haven't had a new dress in a very long time!

Wednesday my mom and I went over to Twin Falls to do some shopping and then spent 8 hours working de-junking and starting to pack my great-aunt's house.  We were covered in cat hair by the time we were done and most of the time I thought I had cat hair in my mouth.  Blah!  Kirra got to have her friend, Alx, come over and play and Daddy gave some pretty fun rides on the 4-wheeler to everyone.
