Hiking

Kade and I went hiking on the Embudo Trail with the mom's co-op preschool. It was so much fun and we're glad they invited us. It was a wonderful sunny day and the temperature was perfect. We couldn't have asked for better weather.

Here's Kade and Sean checking out a bug crossing the trail. We were trying to divert Sean's attention from the fact he wanted to be the one riding in his mom's hiking backpack instead of his little brother. Kade loves his new 'digger' shirt and puttin' on the cheese.
Takin' a break.
It was fun to be with Kade (and be without Keian - thanks for keeping him Amanda)! And I was ever so grateful not to be packing our 18 pound baby on my back for the hike. There were lots of mom's with backpacks on filled with toddlers. I just got to enjoy my Kade!
Rocks make great slides, but they sure are dirty! We actually found water. . . for those of you not from here it might seem silly to be excited about a little water, but it just doesn't happen very often. At the end of the trail was a little water fall - or let's just call it a trickling falls - but it was wet nonetheless.
Kade really wanted to climb the ladder to the top of the huge water tank you see in the picture - it was huge. We are lucky to have such nice outdoor things to do that are close by. Yes, it's all desert and not many trees, but it's still beautiful. You can't really tell in the picture but you can see the whole city from the trail.

Potty Training. . . Done (We Hope)

Kade has been amazing with his potty training! I couldn't have asked for an easier process and he is so proud of himself. Just yesterday we were getting ready to put him to bed and he had to go potty. He sat there and said, "Hear that?" I told him I did and he gave me a big grin and pumped his arms in the air and said, "Awesome!" and then had me 'pound out' with our fists together. He even told Sister Castle and then Sister Ames at church that he had to go potty, and we've been when we were out shopping so he's totally there (still wearing pull-ups for naps and bedtime, though often he wakes up dry)! I am thrilled!
Now the challenge is going to be weaning him from his little potty at home to the toilet. He likes he potty in the hall so he doesn't miss anything that is going on!

Sports Day

Today was 'Sports Day' at Kirra's elementary. She wore her soccer uniform and so did her friend, Megan. They are good buds and have sat at the same table for all of this Kindergarten year. Kirra loves days that are out of the ordinary!
Forlorn and feeling ripped off, because the candy he picked didn't last as long as the jolly ranchers that Megan and Kirra were eating. He had a sucker (that he bites and eats and a whole thing of Pez - he wasn't hurting for sugar).

He Did It!

Keian finally learned how to roll over from his tummy to his back! A huge accomplishment, since for months he has quickly rolled over to his back when I put him down on the floor and then he flails around like a beached whale and gets really mad. We are in trouble now, though - he's mobile even if it's only by rolling!

Her First Trophy!

The last soccer game of the season. . . . here's Kirra after she made a goal. I think she really wants to celebrate, but doesn't want to make anyone feel bad.Second goal of the game - the Strikers were a little off today and lost for the first time.Kirra's coach handed her her trophy and said, "Kirra McEntire, The Goal Scoring Machine!"
Kirra was thrilled about "my very first trophy!" The Strikers! Cute, cute girls. I really enjoyed some of the parents and grandparents. There were a few we could do without, too! Too many expectations and yelling at their kid for my taste.
Our Soccer Girl! She's excited for soccer again in the fall - and maybe some t-ball next spring.

1/2 A Year!

Good Morning Sunshine! Keian gave me a present for his six month birthday. . . he went to sleep on the way home from an activity at the church at 8:00 p.m. and I didn't hear from him again until 6:15 a.m. when I stared at him until he woke up (I needed him to eat)! What a blessing this little boy is in our lives. He's as happy as a baby can be and always greets us with big smiles every morning when he wakes up. Soon, he'll outgrow his bassinet and then we're kind of in a pickle as to what to do with him. He loves Kirra and Kade and basks in their attention and rewards them with squeals and giggles.

Keian's hair is finally starting to grow again. . . in a mohawk! Can you see how much more hair he has right down the middle of his head? A kid at church told Scott Keian looked like Mr. T! I didn't even know kids nowadays knew who Mr. T was.
This is how much hair Keian had when he was born! We definitely have some re-growing to do!

Prince Keian

Prince Keian - what a cute baby!We got this adorable church outfit from my friend, Angie, when we were in Idaho! Keian got lots of compliments on Sunday. Thanks Ang!
Keian is starting to learn how to sit, but if something (like the camera) tempts him and he reaches for it his balance isn't very good yet!
30 piggies in the tub!
Kade and his hoard of underwears. He loves them!Kade to Daddy - "Put on my pink dress so I can play basketball!"
Two sacks of potatoes - a favorite game.
There's nothing like an awesome Daddy to make a kid's day!
Cowboy Kade waiting for his spinning turn.
